I started a new acrylic painting

I have these 12" x 12" wooden panels laying around my studio and I thought I could make use of them and continuing a collection that I started a few years ago. I painted these close ups of petals on 8" x 8" wooden panels and made them into bigger prints. 

I started with going through some photographs I took of tulips back in May and settled on a few compositions. The sketch looks like cabbage but I promise you it’s a tulips flower 🌷

I don’t know what came over me but I decided to do and under painting in bright magenta pink. I’m really into experimenting lately but now I'm doubting my decision. Maybe I should have left it white? It is very distracting and any color I put on top looks muted. My plan is to cover it up and then layer more colors on top of it.
